Transplant Sport UK - Apply to participate in the 2027 World Transplant Games in Leuven, Belgium

The World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF) has evolved and the World Transplant Games is now an international participation event open to all transplant recipients and living donors from member countries.

Traditionally in Great Britian team we have selected participants for the WTG on the basis of their sporting performances at the British Games or previous WTG or European Games.

Most other countries do not actively select and the WTGF is now actively encouraging that the World Transplant Games is open to all, to allow opportunities to all and showcase the life changing impact of organ donation.

Like in 2025 for the Dresden games, Transplant Sport is again adopting a hybrid system. An initial selection process of participants based on previous sporting performance has occurred and athletes have been notified. In addition to this there is now an opportunity for all other recipients connected to Transplant Sport to potentially be a part of the Great British Transplant Team. There are two criteria that you need to fulfil:

1.    Medically fit and more than 6 months post-transplant/donation

2.    Actively participating and have experience in your chosen sport
